A calm beach sunrise. Abide Psychiatry accepts provider referrals for CBT-I and medication management across North Carolina.

For Referring Clinicians — Abide Psychiatry

Partnering with North Carolina physicians, therapists, and sleep clinics to provide specialized Behavioral Sleep Medicine (CBT-I) and comprehensive psychiatric care.

Dr. Pichit Thanupakorn ("Dr. T") is a Duke-trained, board-eligible psychiatrist offering 100% telehealth services across North Carolina. We are currently accepting provider referrals.

Our Clinical Focus

  • Behavioral Sleep Medicine: Gold-standard CBT-I for chronic insomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, and comorbid insomnia.

  • Clinical Sleep Medicine & CPAP Optimization: We order diagnostic Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT) and manage CPAP settings and supplies for stable patients. Our specialty is providing integrated psychiatric support for OSA patients struggling with mask anxiety, claustrophobia, and CPAP compliance.

  • Comprehensive Psychiatry: Conservative, evidence-based medication management for Anxiety, Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar II, and Adult ADHD.

Clinical Boundaries

  • Complex Sleep-Disordered Breathing: We do not manage advanced titration (such as BiPAP or ASV) or complex neurological sleep apnea. Patients requiring advanced respiratory support must be managed by or co-managed with a pulmonologist or sleep neurologist.

  • Acuity Limits: We are a 100% telehealth clinic and do not provide emergency, after-hours, or acute crisis stabilization. We also do not manage severe substance use disorders or detox.

  • Conservative Prescribing: To protect sleep architecture, we do not prescribe long-term, daily benzodiazepines. We also do not prescribe opioids.

  • ADHD Testing Required: We require recent formal neuropsychological testing from a licensed psychologist for all ADHD diagnoses and stimulant prescribing.

How to Refer a Patient

Abide Psychiatry is a digital-first, paperless clinic. We strive to make coordination of care seamless.

1. Secure Fax (Primary & Preferred Method)

  • Fax: 1-609-418-4045

2. Secure Digital Referral Form (Alternative Method)
If your clinic does not utilize faxing, you may initiate a referral by completing our secure online portal below. Please note: To protect patient data and our digital boundaries, our secure email address will be provided to you upon submission of this form so you can send the remaining clinical notes.

3. Direct Patient Booking Patients are welcome to self-refer. They can complete our clinical pre-screener and secure their spot directly at www.abidepsychiatry.com/new-patient.

Insurance & Billing

Abide Psychiatry is currently credentialing to be in-network with BCBS (NC & Federal), Aetna, and Cigna (PPO/EPO plans). For all other commercial carriers, we operate as an out-of-network provider and can provide patients with a detailed superbill. Please note: We have formally opted out of Medicare and do not accept Medicaid.

Peer-to-Peer Consults

Dr. T dedicates his schedule entirely to patient care and does not maintain an open clinical phone line. To discuss a complex case prior to referring, please fax a cover sheet to our secure fax line (1-609-418-4045) with your direct backline number and a few available times (you may also submit your request via the Secure Referral Form and select “Peer-to-Peer Consult” option and provide your contact availability). Dr. T will gladly schedule a brief call with you between his clinical sessions.
